The district is seeking candidates to fill the position
of Superintendent of Schools. The candidate should
have prior experience as a principal or district level
administrator and possess excellent leadership, and
communication skills with a 21st century educational
vision. A background in curriculum development,
budgeting, human relations, and negotiating
experience is a plus. Commitment to student
achievement, community involvement, and
residency in the district is strongly preferred.
New York State School District Administration or
equivalent certification required.
Salary up to $165,000 with a competitive benefits
package, based on experience
Tri-Valley is located in Sullivan County, New York,
about 100 miles north of New York City, and is well
known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational

FOR CURRICULUM,

within a comparably demanding public school setting. He/she will be:

charting strategic pathways through system challenges and issues.

around a dynamic vision for teaching and learning, and leads a culture

* A trustworthy leader with the skills to engage others and sustain
productive working relationships across layered roles and
constituencies.
* A skilled writer, speaker, and presenter, in a variety of educational and
community settings and for the purposes of promoting Scarsdale
students and schools.
Position Description:
The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
is accountable for functions that are critical to a system well-being. Among
other responsibilities, he/she will:
* Cultivate a shared vision for student learning across the organization.
* Advance a continuing, collaborative program of review, evaluation,
development, and implementation of the K-12 curriculum, and
associated assessments and instructional practices.
* Foster the vertical and horizontal articulation and alignment of the
instructional program in collaboration with teachers, curriculum
coordinators, department chairs, assistant principals, and principals.
* Nurture and sustain a comprehensive program of professional
development aimed at continuous instructional and programmatic
improvement.
* Engage in the strategic use of data to inform decision-making.
* Co-direct the Scarsdale Center for Innovation.
The successful candidate must possess, or be eligible for, New York State
certification as a School District Leader, along with an appropriate Master's
degree (Doctorate preferred).
